Meeting with Municipal Technicians on Silvopasture for Peri-urban Buffer Strips

27 July 2026

As part of the COEVOLVERS project, the third Catalonia Living Lab meeting took place at the Pallejà Town Hall on July 15.

The meeting brought together several technicians who are currently implementing, or are planning to implement in the near future, silvopasture practices for the maintenance of peri-urban buffer strips in their municipalities.

The event was organized by the Socioeconomics and Rural Systems Governance team. Participants presented and discussed the proposed methodology for calculating payments for the management of buffer strips according to the technical conditions affecting the work of shepherds and the animals involved. Future scenarios were also outlined, and participants examined how this nature-based solution contributes to the resilience of their local communities.

As part of this project, a series of activities for citizens and support actions for municipalities will be carried out to promote prescribed silvopasture.
