Kick-off meeting of the PYREMPFOR GO project

20 March 2024

This week, the Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC) hosted the kick-off meeting of the Interreg Poctefa PYREMPFOR GO project.

PYREMPFOR GO is a cross-border project that addresses the common challenge of the partners to respond to the high demand for forestry machinists and thus elude the shortage of skilled labor in the forestry sector.

As a general objective, the project aims to reduce the gap between the demand and supply of cross-border forestry workers by mobilizing different actors, promoting a social economy, and implementing innovative training systems to improve the skills of forestry workers and the territory’s economy.

The main expected results of PYREMPFOR GO are the creation of a new professional qualification linked to first transformation machining, a new methodology of insertion, creation, and support to cross-border employment mainly aimed at young people and women, and the establishment of a cross-border labor intermediation structure.

Cross-border exchanges and work camps will implement European quality forestry training systems such as EFESC’s EMOC, which will improve the competency of the participants and favor the employability of young people and women.

The project

The PYREMPFOR GO project will last three years. The CTFC leads the project and has as partners ARIA 09, the Centro Público Integrado de Formación Profesional Montearagón, the Association de Certification Forestiere d’Occitanie, the Escuela Agraria Forestal de Santa Coloma de Farners, the Associació de Rematants i Serradors de Catalunya, the Asociación BASKEGUR, the Centre de Formations Forestières de Bazas, the Associació de Rematants i Serradors de Catalunya, the BASKEGUR Association, the Centre de Formations Forestières de Bazas, the Centre de Formation Professionnelle et de Promotion Agricole Ariège-Comminges (CFPPA), Fibois Occitanie and the Office National des Forêts.

The PYREMPFOR GO project is 65% co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Spain-France-Andorra Program (POCTEFA 2021-2027). The objective of POCTEFA is to strengthen the economic and social integration of the Spain-France-Andorra border area.
