The network aims to be a meeting point for the generation and exchange of scientific knowledge for the mitigation and adaptation of European forests to climate change.
With the project “Implementation of climate-smart forestry in Catalonia as a way to contribute to the socio-economic and ecological resilience of forest landscapes,” the Forest Science and Technology Center of Catalonia (CTFC) joins the research network of Climate-Smart Forestry (CSF). CTFC researchers, led by Dr. Núria Aquilué, participated in the last meeting of the network, held online on November 7.
Promoted in 2020 by the European Forestry Institute (EFI) and Wageningen Environmental Research (WUR), the CSF research network aims to increase the resilience of European forests against climate change. Thus, through the generation and exchange of scientific knowledge, CSF works to connect and coordinate projects in the field of forest management at the European level, combining mitigation and adaptation actions.
The network hosts more than twenty European partners with the aim of identifying possible climate-smart forestry measures, broadly assessing their impacts on mitigation, adaptation, and services, and exchanging knowledge through networking activities (meetings, webinars, etc.), laying the groundwork for upscaling and implementation.
